Marston Remembers | Armistice 2020

Working within the constraints of the UK Coronavirus lockdown, Marston Parish Council remembers the fallen at an emotional memorial event, which included a rededication of the War Memorial.
The Rev. Christina Westwell rededicates the Marston Memorial on it's 100th anniversary.
Also on display was a replica of the original Evergreen arch which stood on Ollershaw Lane in 1918 to help raise funds for the main memorial as well as a focal point for families and friends to grieve.
The replica arch was built by local craftsmen Alan Foster and Jamie Johnson of A.L.F. Construction, Wincham, Northwich. The arch remained in position from the 8th November and taken back down on the 15th of November. The arch, which was built in kit form, enables it to be reused in the future.

Following the ceremony, the names of each Marston Lad killed in both the first and second world wars, were read out, with residents placing a candle for each man. Each candle would remain lit for 24 hours and then relit on the 13th November, the 100th anniversary when the memorial was first dedicated.
